The home team scored the highest in this year's Putnam County American
Heart Walk fund-raiser, held on our campus Oct. 8.
TTU team members from nearly every office and
department on campus not only contributed the most money, $5,283.76,
to the American Heart Association, but also claimed several awards.
Helen Burgess of Nursing was named Putnam County's
"Top Walker" and received a certificate of appreciation
for "outstanding effort in support of research and education
to conquer heart disease and stroke."
Heart Walk participants can also win prizes, including
a cruise, for raising at least $1,000. TTU winners were Burgess,
Evelyn Chambers, Shirley Dyer and Tammy Martin.
All told, teams from throughout Putnam County
contributed about $20,000 to the American Heart Association during
the 2005 Heart Walk.
