The deadline to apply to take the next Certified Professional Secretary
examination is Feb. 15. The exam is scheduled for May 5-6.
The three-part exam, administered by the Institute
for Certification, a department of the International Association
of Administrative Professionals, covers management, finance and
business law, and office systems and administration.
In addition, the IAAP is offering a certification
level for administrative professionals. Applicants must meet certain
educational and work experience requirements, in addition to passing
an exam. The test covers finance and business law, office systems
and administration, management, and organizational planning. If
you've already passed the CPS exam, you can take just part four
of the CAP exam.
Review courses for the CPS exam are now available
online through the Regents Online Continuing Education program.
The review courses cover all three parts of the exam, and one has
already begun, but courses on office systems and technology, as
well as management, begin in February and March. Learn more at www.rodp.org/roce/CPS_Information.htm.
Exam applications are available online at www.iaap-hq.org/cert/certapppacket.pdf.
Registration fees are $220 for the CPS exam, $285 for the full CAP
exam, and $135 for part four of the CAP exam. Contact Gloria Julian,
CPS in Physics, by calling 3483 or e-mailing gjulian
for more information, including details on CPS recertification.
