article by Sharon Berk, Water Resources Center,
appears online this week on the American Chemical Society's Environmental
Science & Technology Research ASAP web site. The article,
"Occurrence of Infected Amoebae in Cooling Towers Compared
with Natural Aquatic Environments: Implications for Emerging Pathogens,"
will appear in print in a special December issue of Environmental
Science & Technology journal. The ACS has also published
a news release about the research in Environmental Science &
Technology Online News.
Alice Camuti, Career Services,
led a workshop at the National Association of Colleges and Employers
annual conference, held in June in Anaheim, Calif. The workshop,
"Attitude Makeover: How to Reignite Your Smoldering Employees,"
focused on providing supervisors with techniques to increase employee
motivation and performance. The response was so favorable that Camuti
was invited to conduct a virtual seminar — or "webinar"
— to the national membership next February.
Three members of the TTU staff — Denise
Colwell of Public Affairs, Evelyn Conner
of University Advancement, and Gayle Donnell of
Admissions — passed the Certified Professional Secretary exam
in May. The three-part exam, offered by the International Association
of Administrative Professionals, is recognized around the world
as the capstone of secretarial professionalism.
