Nominations due for Caplenor Award Sept. 15

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2006-2007 Caplenor Faculty Research Award is Sept. 15.

No individual may nominate more than one person. The award, given annually in recognition of achievements in research, will be presented at fall commencement in December and consists of an honorarium, a plaque and listing on a permanent plaque displayed in Derryberry Hall.

The award was established in honor of the late Charles Donald Caplenor, former associate vice president for research and dean of instructional development until his death in 1979. The award was first presented in 1984. The most recent was awarded to Dean Richey, professor of Curriculum and Instruction.

Guidelines for the selection of award recipients include:

* The major portion of the research must have been performed while the nominee was employed by Tennessee Tech.

* An individual may be nominated for an outstanding career of research at Tennessee Tech or for a single significant accomplishment.

* Any full-time Tennessee Tech faculty member with at least three academic years of service prior to nomination is eligible.

* Previous winners of the award will not be eligible for nomination for five years.

Complete guidelines, as well as a nomination form, are available at www.tntech.edu/research/caplenor.htm. Nominations may be submitted by using this form or the online version and should be returned by noon, Sept. 15, to the Caplenor Faculty Research Award Committee, Box 5036.
