| The
deadline for submitting nominations for the 2006-2007 Caplenor Faculty
Research Award is Sept. 15.
No individual may nominate more than one person.
The award, given annually in recognition of achievements in research,
will be presented at fall commencement in December and consists
of an honorarium, a plaque and listing on a permanent plaque displayed
in Derryberry Hall.
The award was established in honor of the late
Charles Donald Caplenor, former associate vice president for research
and dean of instructional development until his death in 1979. The
award was first presented in 1984. The most recent was awarded to
Dean Richey, professor of Curriculum and Instruction.
Guidelines for the selection of award recipients
include:
* The major portion of the research must have
been performed while the nominee was employed by Tennessee Tech.
* An individual may be nominated for an outstanding
career of research at Tennessee Tech or for a single significant
accomplishment.
* Any full-time Tennessee Tech faculty member
with at least three academic years of service prior to nomination
is eligible.
* Previous winners of the award will not be eligible
for nomination for five years.
