| The
Volpe Library, Student Affairs and Loan Accounting are among our
most awesome offices.
They are the winners of this year’s TTU
Pride Days Awesome Office Decorating Contest, taking top prize in
the respective categories of large office, small office and door
decoration.
“It was a tough competition, and the number
of entries doubled from last year," says Tracey LeFevre, Public
Affairs writer and a contest organizer and judge. "Nevertheless,
the levels of spirit and creativity displayed by all entrants were
impressive.”
Loan Accounting won the prize package valued at
more than $60 for the door decoration category with a “TTU
Pride at Work” theme that incorporated construction images,
flashing lights, traffic cones and hard hats.
The theme of Student Affairs, which won the small
office category’s prize package totaling more than $100, was
“TTU Pride: Old School,” which incorporated vintage
Tech purple and gold items, such as Vice President Marc Burnett’s
former basketball jersey, along with contemporary decorations.
The Volpe Library won the large office category’s
prize package worth more than $150 with its “Island of Knowledge”
theme that incorporated a purple and gold spin on the popular "Pirates
of the Caribbean" movie starring Johnny Depp. Employees even
donned their own purple and gold pirate gear and turned their information
desk into a pirate ship called the Purple Pearl.
Other competing offices included:
* Door category — Career Services (honorable
mention), RUC Information Desk, RUC Custodial Services, Athletic
Advising, Greek Life and International Student Affairs
* Small office category: Foreign Languages, International
Student Affairs, Records and Minority Affairs
* And large office category: Human Resource Services
(honorable mention), Fitness Center, Financial Aid and Interdisciplinary
Studies and Extended Education.
“Every entry was an award-winner in terms
of showing TTU Pride, and every office that competed showed an incredible
level of university spirit,” says LeFevre. “I hope those
offices are inspired to build on that spirit for next year’s
competition.”
Other judges of this year’s competition
were Robin Burroughs, cheerleading coach; Karen Lykins, news bureau
director in Public Affairs; and Tracy Black, marketing director.
