news headlines and complete stories can now be sent straight to
your computer each day through RSS feeds.
RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication,
is a free subscription service that allows users to choose specific
online information without having to browse through web sites. Public
Affairs recently launched the RSS feed service so that subscribers
could get automatic updates on news and events related to the university.
"RSS feeds are becoming popular with huge
media organizations, such as The New York Times, and at
colleges and universities all over the country," says Monica
Greppin, director of Public Affairs. "Offering our alumni,
faculty and staff, students and supporters this service allows us
to share important information about the university in a timely
and technologically savvy manner."
The university also recently made several video
podcasts available, including a campus tour video designed to introduce
prospective students to TTU. Offerings also include interviews with
TTU professors and administrators on research topics and information
about the university.
Both the RSS feeds and podcasts can be accessed
for free by PC or Mac users. A link to complete offerings and instructions
can be found on our home page at www.tntech.edu.
