| Our
student enrollment for the Spring 2007 semester again has set an
all-time high record. Compared to last year, enrollment in the spring
semester increased by 3.3 percent, up 275 students.
The spring enrollment increase follows the news
from fall 2006 that our enrollment increased by a higher percentage
than any other Tennessee Board of Regents' University.
"We're very excited about the university's
enrollment picture for the spring term," says Bobby Hodum,
interim executive director of Enrollment Management. "When
our fall enrollment reached record numbers last semester, we were
hopeful that we could continue that trend into the spring term,
and it looks like that has happened."
Our headcount enrollment this semester totals
8,540, compared to 8,265 for the same time last year. Spring enrollment
reached record levels in Spring 2005 (8,143) and Spring 2006 (8,265).
"For fall 2006 term, the undergraduate enrollment
was 4.3 percent higher than the fall 2005 term," Hodum says.
"When looking at this semester, the undergraduate enrollment
for spring 2007 term is 4.7 percent higher than the spring 2006
term. This is wonderful news, and I believe it's an indication that
our recruitment and retention efforts are really paying off."
The College of Education posted the highest increase
in enrollment this spring over last spring, followed by the College
of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering.
