Narrated studio demonstrations — like the glass blowing technique
Thom McMahon is demonstrating here — will be presented at
this year’s Celebration of Craft, set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
on Saturday, April 14, on the grounds of the Craft Center.
But that’s not all the event has to offer.
Hear live music, purchase items at the Visual Art Society’s
spring sale or commemorative items from Friends of the Appalachian
Center for Craft and bid on silent auction items donated by Craft
Center and local artists to support educational outreach efforts
that benefit more than 3,500 elementary and high school students
in the Upper Cumberland region.
The Gallery offers a 20 percent discount off all
merchandise for TTU employees who present valid Eagle Card identifications.
Celebration 2007 is a project funded in part under
an agreement with the State of Tennessee, the Tennessee Arts Commission
and the National Endowment for the Arts. Admission is free. The
Craft Center is located approximately six miles from Interstate
40 at the Smithville/McMinnville Exit 273. Go south toward Smithville
on Highway 56 and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane
Bridge. For more information, go online to www.tntech.edu/craftcenter.
