Tech Players perform "The Importance of Being Earnest" for Spring Production

The Backdoor Playhouse and Tech Players present "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde as the 16th annual Dorothy Printz Pennebaker Memorial Spring Production.

The show, which is suitable for all audiences, opens at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 19. Other show times will be 8 p.m. on April 20, 21, 23, 24, 27 and 28, 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, and a special Saturday matinee performance at 2 p.m. on April 21.

In Wilde’s three-act comedy set in 1890s England, two young gentlemen use the same pseudonym of Earnest whenever they go out on the sly. The plan works fine until they fall in love with women they’ve met while using the same false name, and a comedy of errors ensues.

Ticket prices are $8 for general admission, $6 for senior citizens, $4 for non-TTU students and free for TTU students who present valid Eagle Card identifications.

A Center Stage event, the play is directed by Mark Creter and presented in cooperation with the Department of English and Communications.

The Backdoor Playhouse is located in the rear of our Jere Whitson Building.

For more information, call the Backdoor Playhouse box office at 6595 or visit its web site at www.tntech.edu/bdph.
