With the turf replacement project in Tucker Stadium getting underway
Monday, progress has already been made. The bright green turf that
has covered Overall Field for the past several seasons is no more.
The Motz Group, the firm completing the project,
has pulled up all the former playing surface in order to prepare
the area for the new 24/7 artificial turf system that is projected
to be in place by mid-summer.
With the former turf removed from the playing
surface, The Motz Group is now able to begin making repairs to the
EAL, or Energy Absorption Layer, which incurs slight tears during
the removal process in preparation for laying the new surface. With
the substantial progress already made this week, the project continues
to move along on schedule. Remnants of the word "TECH"
can still be seen in the south endzone.

The Golden Eagles and new head coach Watson Brown
will debut the new playing surface on Sept. 6 as they open the 2007
home schedule against Cumberland University in Tucker Stadium.
