Enroll now for evening and weekend workshops this fall at the Craft Center

If you’ve got an open weekend or one evening a week, then you could enjoy a creative, hands-on learning experience at an Appalachian Center for Craft fall workshop.

Evening classes begin on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15 and 16, and run from 6 to 9 p.m. one night a week through Nov. 10 and 11.

Weekend workshops are offered Sept. 20 and 21, and Nov. 1 and 2. Weekend class hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Both evening and weekend classes are offered for all skill levels, from the complete beginner to the professional artist.

“A variety of different workshops are scheduled for this fall at the Craft Center, including introduction to wheel throwing in ceramics, functional pottery, figurative sculpture, making fireplace tools and candleholders in the blacksmithing studio, glass bead making, stained glass, woodturning, learning to hand-spin your own yarns, repair techniques for metals, jewelry making and more,” says Gail Gentry, workshop and event coordinator.

“TTU employees and students should be reminded that there is a 50 percent discount of the workshop fee if they register within the month prior to the start of the workshop,” Gentry continues.

The Craft Center, a satellite campus of TTU, is located off Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). Take Highway 56 south for approximately six miles and take an immediate left after crossing Hurricane Bridge.

For more information about the Craft Center’s workshop program, call 3051, e-mail craftcenter@tntech.edu or visit the web site at www.tntech.edu/craftcenter/
