- Curt Elverd and Michael Butler selected for Conn-Selmer University
seminar at Notre Dame University
- John Gardner performs for fourth summer in the resident professional
brass ensemble for Camp of the Woods, summer cultural and religious
retreat in New York State.
2004
- TTU Trumpet Ensemble wins fourth place of 22 university trumpet
ensembles at the National Trumpet Competition.
- Matt Kirkpatrick awarded graduate assistantship to Wichita
State University to perform in the faculty brass quintet and
professional Wichita Symphony and is selected a performer for
the Northwestern University Trumpet Seminar.
- Mark Morgan is hired as a trumpet performer by Norwegian Cruise
Lines.
- John Gardner performs for third summer in the resident professional
brass ensemble for Camp of the Woods, summer cultural and religious
retreat in New York State.
2003
- Mark Morgan is a semifinalist jazz soloist for the National
Trumpet Competition
- John Gardner performs in the resident professional brass ensemble
for Camp of the Woods, summer cultural and religious retreat
in New York State.
- Matt Kirkpatrick performs with resident orchestra for the Catania
International Music Festival in Italy.
2002
- Matt Kirkpatrick is a semifinalist soloist for The National
Trumpet Competition, is awarded scholarship to the summer Eastern
Music Festival, and is selected as one of ten performers for
the DePaul University Trumpet Seminar.
- Mark Morgan awarded scholarship to the summer Skidmore Jazz
Institute.
- TTU Trumpet Ensemble wins second place of 13 university trumpet
ensembles at the National Trumpet Competition.
- Tim Joynt wins third place in the jazz soloist division of
the National Trumpet Competition.
- Doug Clark is awarded graduate assistantship to University
of Georgia for Master’s in Performance.
- Matt Kirkpatrick and Bryan Crisp win two of the eleven collegiate
scholarships awarded by the International Trumpet Guild to attend
annual conference.
- Bryan Crisp wins first place in solo division of the Tennessee
Trumpet Competition.
- Matt Kirkpatrick wins second place in solo division of the
Tennessee Trumpet Competition and is awarded a scholarship to
Brevard Summer Music Festival.
- Bryan Crisp and Doug Clark win the duet division of the Tennessee
Trumpet Competition.
- John Gardner and Doug Clark perform in the resident professional
brass ensemble for Camp of the Woods, summer cultural and religious

- Will Rachal, Bryan Crisp, and Doug Clark are semifinalist soloists
for National Trumpet Competition.
2000
- Student brass quintet with Doug Clark and Bryan Crisp wins
first place at National Trumpet Competition.
- Doug Clark is semifinalist soloist for the National Trumpet
Competition and is awarded a scholarship for a second year to
attend Brevard Summer Music Festival. He also tours and records
with the nationally famous Tim Zimmerman and The King’s
Brass
- Bryan Crisp is only trumpeter of 120 competitors to perform
in four divisions (solo, trumpet ensemble, jazz soloist, and
chamber music) of the National Trumpet Competition.
- Justin Scott wins 2nd place in the solo division of the Tennessee
Trumpet Competition.
- Shane Joyce, Doug Clark, and Bryan Crisp are chosen for the
College Band Directors National Association Southeastern Intercollegiate
Band. TTU had more trumpeters in the group than any other university.
1999
- Doug Clark awarded scholarship to attend Brevard Summer Music
Festival.
- Bryan Crisp tours and records a 2nd year with the nationally
famous Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass.
1998
- Doug Clark wins first place in the solo division of the Tennessee
Trumpet Competition.
- Bryan Crisp tours and records with the nationally famous Tim

1997
- Stephen Collins awarded a scholarship from the International
Trumpet Guild to attend annual conference. and awarded graduate
assistantship to University of Kansas for Master’s in Performance.
1996
- Wayne Robbins is one of four finalists in the solo
competition for International Trumpet Guild Conference. and awarded
graduate assistantship to University of Texas for Master’s
in Performance.
1995
- Wayne Robbins awarded "Special Recognition" as a
semifinalist soloist at National Trumpet Competition. and awarded
a scholarship from the International Trumpet Guild to attend
conference.
