APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR
TRANSFER STUDENTS
- Secure an application
for admission from the Office of Admissions or apply online at www.tntech.edu/applyonline.
Complete the forms and return them at an early date. The application must
be accompanied by a non-refundable $15 application fee.
- Request each
institution previously attended to send official transcripts of all work completed
and a partial transcript if presently enrolled in another institution. Request
the final transcript when all work is completed. Transcripts of all work attempted
at the college level must be furnished.
It is a Class A misdemeanor to misrepresent academic credentials. A person
commits the offense of misrepresentation of academic credentials who, knowing
that the statement is false and with the intent to secure employment at or
admission to an institution of higher education in Tennessee, represents,
orally or in writing that such person:
(1) Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded
one (1) or more degrees or diplomas from an accredited institution of higher
education;
(2) Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded
one (1) or more degrees for diplomas from a particular institution of higher
education; or
(3) Has successfully completed the required course work for and has been awarded
one (1) or more degrees or diplomas in a particular field or specialty from
an accredited institution of higher education.
- Students who
have NOT earned a bachelors degree are required to submit an official final
high school transcript or GED scores. Those who have not completed college
credit Math or English courses must follow COMPASS/ASSET testing guidelines.
Students uner the age of 21 who have completed fewer than 24 semester hours
must also submit ACT scores.
- Follow the procedure
in applying for residence hall reservations outlined under Admission to Freshman
Standing. (See Residential Life.)
- Complete and return the Student Health Form and Hepatitis/Meningitis Waiver
form before registering for classes. Forms are available to download from
the Health Services website at www.tntech.edu/healthservices. (See "Health
Requirements" section for more information.)

- The applicant will be notified of the admission status after all credentials
have been received and evaluated. Tentative admission may be granted on the
basis of partial transcripts if the quality of work is clearly acceptable.
Final admission is granted only after all transcripts and credentials are
received. Upon acceptance the student will be sent a Letter of Admission.
All applications from students whose native language is not English will be
screened by the English Placement Committee, and such students may be required
to take a placement test at Tennessee Tech for the purpose of validating
previous English study and/or placement in English courses, including English
composition and English as a Second Language. The English placement test may not
be taken more than once.
