Tech achieved the largest enrollment in its history this fall, 10,321 students, according to final census numbers. This is the seventh consecutive year that enrollment has reached record-setting levels at TTU. In addition, the number of first-time freshmen set a record with 1,661. Bobby Hodum, TTU’s executive director of Enrollment Management, said the coordination of efforts across the university has led to these numbers. “We have worked hard to be more responsive to students, to respond in a timely manner with admissions and scholarships,” Hodum said. “We’ve increased communication between the unive r s i t y and pr ospe c t ive students, plus effective marketing and increased resources over the past several years have contributed to enrollment growth.” For the second consecutive fall, TTU’s enrollment is up by a higher percentage than any other four-year university in the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The university posted 6 percent growth in headcount enrollment over last fall’s number of 9,733. The count was bolstered by an 8.8 percent jump in first-time freshmen. Undergraduate transfer student and graduate enrollment each rose more than 12 percent. Academic programs that are recording the greatest percentage increase in first-time freshmen are the College of Agricultural and Human Sciences, which includes Nursing (up about 34 percent), College of Business (up about 17 percent) and College of Engineering (up about 13 percent). |
