What is Digital Signage?

Digital signage provides an automated way to display information and communicate with target audiences via the use of digital technology, such as LCD, plasma and LED displays. The web-based system allows you to create customized messages for students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and visitors. Digital signage messaging that you can edit and update at any time is presented on interactive touch screens or non-interactive displays.

What are the Benefits of Digital Signage?

  • Content can be scheduled and displayed to target audiences at specific times and locations. (Example: Digital displays can offer visitors to a conference in Johnson Hall information about session times, locations and details.)

  • Content changes can be made quickly and easily. Changes can also be scheduled to activate or deactivate at designated time and dates.

  • Digital signage can lower overhead by replacing traditional paper communication.

  • Digital signage offers an enhancement of TTU’s reputation as a leader in the use of technology.

    What types of content can be displayed with Digital Signage?

    MS Office Files and information, Flash Files, Images, Videos, PDF, RSS Feeds, Text Files and Messages, Web Pages, Live Data (XML, MS Exchange Calendars, Syndicated Feeds, Delimited Text Files, SQL Data, Daylight Data, Delphi Data, Event Management System Data, ESP Data, Opera Data, etc.), Wayfinding, Weather, Live TV, Date/Time, Bing Maps, Google Earth, Emergency Messaging, and much more.

    The web director acts as developer, designer, coordinator, and manager of TTU's web sites and Content Management System to support its Missions and Marketing goals. Responsibility includes serving as liaison with the Information Technology department. Also cooperates with various campus units to develop new and innovative uses of the TTU web site and participates in the development and planning of TTU's overall Marketing Strategy.
