More young women than men are new smokers. More men are quitting smoking than women. This has led to an increased rate of lung cancer in women. But do you also know that smoking causes facial wrinkles, voice changes, yellow stains on your fingers and teeth, bad breath, and increased fatigue?
You were free to smoke, now you can be "Free From Smoking." The TTU School of Nursing (with Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Putnam County Health Department) sponsors smoking cessation meetings absolutely free for everyone. The group meets every Thursday from 6 to 7 pm in the Medical Center cafeteria. You can come to meetings before you stop smoking and get assistance from volunteers trained by the American Lung Association.
Give yourself a present this holiday season - stop smoking. It will add 17 years to your life. In addition, you may have $672 a year extra to spend (based on one pack a day at $2/pack).
