WATERS FARM
Tennessee Technological University's organic farm was established in
August 2007 after Gary and Brenda Waters donated their 113-acre
farm with a long-term lease to TTU's School of Agriculture. Funding for the
organic farm's infrastructure was obtained from the Tennessee Department
of Agriculture with support from the School of Agriculture and the Center
for the Management, Utilization and Protection of Water Resources at TTU.
The designated organic section of the farm follows the watershed
drainage and is approximately 33 acres, of which about 10 acres are actively
managed with organic research or demonstration plots. The farm is located
in southern Putnam County off Burgess Falls Road.
All work at the Farm is dedicated to the memory of Brenda
Waters who recently lost her battle with cancer.
