At the Center, researchers understand that water resources are essential to plant, animal, and human survival. Researchers also understand water's importance in agricultural, industrial and recreational uses and the need to maximize the effective use of these resources without compromising water quality. Along that line, Center researchers explore the relationship between water and life in entire watersheds, within municipal infrastructures and in microscopic waterborne pathogens. They also monitor changes in water quality, aquatic habitats, and species population trends. The Center's researchers then reveal their inbiased findings to the public, including research managers entrusted with protecting human health and natural resources as well as to citizens who are shown how their actions can affect water supplies.
