Admissions

CHOOSE FROM THE TABS BELOW

Once your official transcripts arrive from your prior college/university, and you are admitted to TTU, your transcripts will be evaluated by the Graduation Office staff to transfer credit.

To help the student gain an understanding of how courses might transfer to TTU, the Transfer Equivalency website is a good resource. For the Tennessee Board of Regents community colleges, please select the "TN CC Equiv Tables" tab and select the academic year that you completed or plan to complete the course. Course equivalencies may change. This website contains a listing of institutions by state that TTU has evaluated course credit from in the past. If your transfer institution and/or specific course is not listed, it might mean that TTU has never evaluated that course before. Your official transcripts will be sent to the Graduation Office to evaluate the course.

TTU has developed course equivalency tables with the Tennessee Board of Regents Community Colleges. These tables assure that the courses as shown in the published equivalency tables are equivalent and meet the standards for transfers to TTU into the majors in the disciplines. Therefore, these agreements serve as the prior approval for students taking these courses during a summer term while a transient student from TTU. The "Request for Extension or In-Residence Study at Another Institution" (pdf) form is not required for these TBR community colleges but is required for all other schools. The equivalency tables are reviewed by the transfer coordinator and the departmental chairperson in the respective discipline yearly. If the course in question is a general education requirement, then the Faculty General Education Committee reviews the appropriate equivalencies. Please check with your advisor to find out if the transfer credit meets the requirements for your degree.

For transfer students who plan on visiting campus, we recommend that you bring copies of transcript(s) with you.

How to Review Credit Evaluation Online

Transfer credit is awarded based on the Tennessee Board of Regents transfer equivalency tables for TBR community colleges. Credit is awarded based on course title from the transcript for all other universities and non-TBR community colleges. If we do not have an equivalent course, we may award elective credit. Letter grades of A through F will transfer. You may not pick and choose the courses that you would like to transfer. The grades assigned to you for your transfer credit are based on TTU's grading scale so your grade point average may be different. Credit earned from ACT/SAT, CLEP, IB and others (see "Credit by Exam" link on the left) will be awarded with an S grade and will not be factored into GPA calculation.

To see what courses have transferred and the course equivalency assigned at TTU, follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.tntech.edu/eo
  2. Select “Enter Secure Banner Web Self Service.”
  3. Enter your assigned Tech ID (eight-digit number beginning with the letter T) in the User ID.
  4. Enter your six-digit PIN.
  5. Select the “Student and Financial Aid” tab.
  6. Select “Student Records.”
  7. Select “View Student Transfer Evaluation.”
  8. Select “institution” from the drop down menu and select the submit button.
  9. Select exit to log off.

When viewing your transfer evaluation, the second column from the right titled "TTU Attr" which stands for TTU Attribute may have a code listed by a course. The tables below provide the codes and what they represent.

Tennessee Community College Transfer Equivalency Tables: These tables are updated annually in the summer for the thirteen Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) community colleges after the catalogs become available. The table shows how courses from the community college transfer to Tennessee Tech during that academic year. Red text shows corrections made since the hard copies were printed.

Tennessee Transfer Pathways:

  • earns an associate's degree
  • guarantees admission to Tennessee Tech University
  • guarantees your credit will transfer

There are provisions that apply to these pathways. The pathways must be followed precisely and admission to certain programs (e.g. Nursing and Education Licensure programs) is not guaranteed. Find our more at www.tntransferpathway.org. Certain programs have various exceptions listed in the "additional information" area under the specific University pathway. Not all majors are covered under the pathways therefore course by course equivalencies can be found at www.tntech.edu/transfer.

For further information, please contact Jake Gipson at jgipson@tntech.edu or (931) 372-3799.

RODP Courses Equivalent to TTU Courses

The RODP course equivalency table provided below was created by checking the Tennessee Technological University transfer equivalency tables with the Tennessee Board of Regents Community Colleges and courses that had previously been transferred from TBR senior institutions.

If RODP courses have the same number as a TTU course, a crosswalk number is assigned to the RODP course. This number will be listed in the comments column.

If the RODP course that you plan to take is not listed, please complete the RODP Course Equivalency Request form available on the Records and Registration Office website. As courses are approved, they will be added to the table.
