Since I graduated from TTU, I have been working for the Facilities department on campus. I assist the project managers and director with various tasks related to renovations and new construction on campus. I have assumed the role of an assistant project manager within the department. The Housing and Design (H&D) concentration has enabled me to take on these tasks such as: AutoCAD work, design, construction management, drafting, field verification, scaling drawing, elevations, understanding and manipulating bid documents and construction documents, understanding and utilizing building and fire codes.
The teachers and administrators within the HEC department are some of the best on campus. They recognized the potential in me and continually pushed me to succeed. They are all very knowledgeable and familiar with a broad range of topics, and I couldn’t have asked for better instructors. They allowed me to focus on specializing my degree and pursuing sustainability and green design concepts. I would recommend this program to anyone wishing to enter into a construction and/or design career. This degree has allowed me to apply to graduate schools for architecture and construction management to further my study and focus.
