Project AWAKEN is a federally funded grant program at Tech. AWAKEN addresses sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking (which we use the term "power-based violence" to depict) on Tech’s campus through prevention and education efforts.

Mission Statement

Project AWAKEN is dedicated to the belief that no one should experience sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, or stalking. Project AWAKEN works to eliminate violence from happening, to train bystanders on active interventions, to improve professional responses to survivors on campus and in the community, and to serve as an empowering, confidential resource for survivors.

Why is this important?

Multiple studies across the US have found that 1 in 4 female college students, and 1 in 16 male college students will experience completed or attempted rape by the time they graduate college. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. Violence is an epidemic!

 Does this happen at Tech?

Tech is not exempt from these problems: 13% of participants in the 2020 campus climate survey reported that they had experienced sexual assault during their time at Tech. Tech has made steps to combat the problem of sexual violence with Project AWAKEN. We can ALL be a part of the solution!
