Freshman Year…

Sophomore Year…

  • Let us help you get started preparing your first college resume.
  • Log in to your Handshake account and fill out your profile on Handshake.
  • Explore career interests with tools on your website: TypeFocus and What Can I Do With This Major?
  • Attend one of our five annual career fairs and numerous workshops as part of your career exploration.
  • Join at least one service or leadership organization.
  • Update your resume and upload it into our Handshake online resume and job database. Use Handshake to apply for cooperative education and/or internship opportunities. And attend all career fairs!
  • Improve your interviewing skills by using the InterviewStream online software system.
  • Earn your Career Readiness Certification to ensure you have the professional skills required for workplace success.
  • Join a career-related or professional organization.

Junior Year…

Senior Year…

  • Participate in a cooperative education or internship program to gain relevant experience.
  • Network - attend career fairs and pursue a leadership role in a campus organization.
  • Don't forget to start working toward your Career Readiness Certification and upload your updated resume inside your Handshake account.
  • Considering graduate school? Begin researching programs of interest, admission requirements, and testing deadlines.
  • Begin applying for full time jobs 8-10 months before graduation.
  • Finalize your resume in Handshake and practice interviewing with InterviewStream.
  • Participate in Center for Career Development on-campus interview, as well as attend all career fairs and workshops.
  • It's not too late to earn your Career Readiness Certification!
  • Applying to graduate school? Get assistance with personal statements and resumes. Submit applications by required deadlines.
