Where Can I Gain Experience?

No matter what your field of interest in the journalism/mass communications area, Tennessee Tech has an internship program for you. This is in addition to the experience you receive on the newspaper, radio station, yearbook or literary magazine--experience ranging all the way from reporter to editor or program director. Intern programs are provided in advertising, radio and television broadcasting, editing, magazine, photography, public relations, news reporting and sports reporting.

You may choose to work on a newspaper or radio or television station during the academic year without a major disruption in campus life. It's common for students to intern and take other classes at the same time.

"Some students elect to intern during the summer," said journalism professor emeritus Earl Hutchison. "Last summer, a student worked on a television station in Chattanooga. Others intern during the school year on campus in areas such as public relations and magazine."
