Our Vision is for the Department of Accounting to be a recognized leader in undergraduate and graduate accounting education with a focus on technology, and to be the destination of choice for those students seeking rich and diverse learning experiences that inspire innovation, leadership, and value creation.

To achieve our Vision, we believe it is our Mission to:

  • Provide an educational foundation that enables its students to become successful accounting professionals,
  • Engage in scholarly activity that makes meaningful contributions to the understanding and practice and to accounting education, and to
  • Serve the region, state, community, university, and the profession through outreach activities..

We believe teaching, scholarly activities, and service are interdependent and synergistic, and that the spirit of discover and pursuit of knowledge underlie our educational focus and guide our service activities.

The College of Business is internationally accredited by the AACSB. In addition, the Accounting Program also holds separate AACSB, accreditation, an honor held by only a fraction of all AACSB schools. The Accounting Accreditation Process is similar to the Business Accreditation Process, except it focuses on a school’s accounting programs. It also includes a rigorous self-evaluation and peer-review process.

The Department of Accounting offers education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our undergraduate Accounting major consists of 21 hours of upper division accounting and 3 hours of communications in addition to the business core required of all business majors. At the graduate level, the Department offers a Master of Accountancy.  For more information on our various programs, go to Accounting Curriculum.
