June 25-27, 2002
The Juran Center for Leadership in Quality, part of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, held a forum for business executives and academic researchers. The purpose of the Summit was to examine problems related to permanent transformation to quality systems thinking, mainly by businesses and health care organizations. Dr. Reimann and Dr. Nat Natarajan attended the Summit.
The Summit featured nationally known speakers. In addition to Dr. Juran, this included U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill and 3M Chairman, W. James McNerney. Key topics included:
- Systems Transformation;
- Leading the Systems Transformation;
- Sustaining the Transformation;
- Board Governance; and
- Role of Academia.
The June 27 agenda focused entirely on academic topics, including the quality “body of knowledge” launched with the Summit, and key research challenges associated with the quality transformation envisioned by the Summit keynoters and other leaders.
