Graham Campbell, Professor of Art / Head of Wood Department
Phone: (931) 372-6879
Graham Campbell grew up in South Africa where, for a dozen years, he mixed studies in architecture, residential construction and technical theater.
In 1983, he spent a year traveling through Europe and the U.S. before moving to upstate New York to study fine woodworking at the Wendell Castle School. He completed an MFA degree (Master of Fine Arts) at Virginia Commonwealth University. After teaching at both schools, he was hired to head the Wood Department of TTU's Appalachian Center for Craft.
He has continued in this role for the last 20 years and is active in service to the field. He is a regular juror for exhibitions, has taught workshops, served on the Board of the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists for four years, and in 1999, he hosted the Annual Furniture Society Conference held at the Appalachian Center for Craft.
The furniture he makes can be found in many public and private collections; and in the books Scratching the Surface, Designing Furniture, 500 Tables and 500 Chairs.
