Hands-on Workshops

  • Workshops are open to every skill level - even those with little or no experience.
  • Create gifts for everyone on your list!

  • Images shown below descriptions are representative of objects to be created in the workshops.
  • Please read the workshop descriptions below for details on topics, timing, age limits and fees. NOTE: Any individual less than 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult to register for and participate in a workshop:
    • Blacksmithing - create steel S-hooks at the forge using hammers, an anvil, and various other tools. Minimum age is 16 years. Sessions are 2 hours in length. Fee is $25 per person, per session.
    • Clay ornaments - cut holiday shapes from clay, layer them if you wish, and decorate them with underglazes. All ages are welcome. Sessions are 30 minutes. Fee is $15 per person, per session. We will fire the pieces in a kiln and ship them to you within 2 weeks.
    • Bookmaking - decorate special paper and use it to make a cover and the interior of a strap-bound book. Minimum age is 16. Sessions are 3 hours. Fee is $35 per person, per session.
    • Silk scarf dyeing - Use fiber reactive dyes to create layers of color and pattern on a habotai silk scarf. Minimum age is 12. Participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a participating adult. Sessions are 2 hours. Maximum class size is 6 participants.
    • Hand-blown glass ornaments - gather glass from the furnace, select and apply color to the hot glass and shape the ornament of your dreams. Minimum age is 10. Sessions are 30 minutes in length. Fee is $35 per person, per session. Ornaments will be annealed in our kilns, packed and shipped to the address of your choosing within 2 weeks after the workshop.
    • Fused glass ornaments - use our patterns or one of your own to create a fused glass ornament by cutting glass shapes and layering them. We will fuse the pieces in our kilns and ship them within 2 weeks. Minimum age is 12. Sessions are 1 hour. Fee is $20 per person, per session.
    • Metal ornaments - Create your own molds. Melt and cast pewter into ornaments. Minimum age is 12 years or older. Sessions are 1 hour. Fee is $20 per person, per session.
    • Wood ornaments - Power Carving and Pyrography - use a wood burner and small power carving tool to apply unique motifs and create a wooden ornament. Minimum age is 16 years or older. Sessions are 3 hours. Fee $35 per person, per session.


FREE Hands-on Kids' Craft Activities

  • Activities:
    • Stamped holiday cards - use seasonally inspired stamps to create cards, gift tags and pictures.
    • Character cups - create holiday-inspired characters on tiny metal pails. Use decorative tape, "wiggle" eyes, foam shapes and more to bring your characters to life. Store your favorite treats inside.
    • Character plates - create three-dimensional holiday-inspired characters on colorful paper plates add eyes, hats, scarves, foam shapes to create your favorites.
    • Finger and thumb-print ornaments - use finger paints and your own hands to create heirloom, one-of-a-kind ornaments. Outline wreathes, trees, reindeer, presents and more. Add "gems" and decorative ribbon for the finishing touches. 
  • Ages: suitable for all ages, but most appropriate for toddlers to 10 year olds.
  • ALL participants younger than 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult.
