Dr. Villalba is a new faculty member of the Department of Foreign Languages. Originally from Spain, he received his B.A. in Hispanic Philology from the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain), and his Ph.D. in Spanish, with a designated emphasis in Critical Theory, from the University of California, Davis. Before joining the TTU family, he taught Spanish language, culture and literature at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Villalba’s research interests include modern and contemporary Spanish literature, Spanish cinema, critical theory, film theory, psychoanalysis, trauma, memory, exile and migration. He has published several articles on 1939 Spanish exile authors and also on Spanish contemporary narrative.
