Dr. Ronald McGauvran is an assistant professor of political science at Tennessee Tech University. Dr. McGauvran joined the department in 2018. He received his B.A. in political science and art history from Linfield College in 2008, an M.A. in political science from the University of New Orleans in 2012, an M.S. in quantitative research methodology in 2015, and his Ph.D. in political science in 2018 from the University of North Texas. Dr. McGauvran teaches a wide variety of comparative political science courses, such as Comparative Political Behavior, Political Economy and Globalization, Politics of Developing Nations, and Democratization. He also regularly teaches classes on research design and data analysis. He is also the faculty advisor for the Model UN of Tennessee Tech, which regularly attends Model UN competitions, and encourages everyone to join! Dr. McGauvran’s research interests include the political repercussions of economic inequality, as well as the factors that lead to the increasing economic disparities in developing countries. Dr. McGauvran’s research has appeared in generalist political science journals, such as Political Research Quarterly, Social Sciences Quarterly, and Politics and Policy as well as other specific subfield journals.
