2+2 Program FAQs

  • 2 years at your prospective community college (60 hrs)
  • 2 years enrolled as a student at Tennessee Technological University (60 hrs)
  • Fill out the online 2+2 Intent to Participate.
  • Apply and complete requirements to be admitted to Tennessee Tech the designated deadline.
  • Send an official copy of high school transcripts and transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended to the TTU Admissions Office.
  • Apply and be admitted to the Teacher Education Program the designated deadlines.
  • Complete all pre-requisite coursework.
All courses are offered through TTU at the partnered community college campus site for the 2+2 program and require in class participation.
A TNumber is another name for your TTU student identification number. You can obtain a TNumber by applying to the university. You will not be able to complete certain forms without it. All forms for admission to the Teacher Education Program require a TNumber for submission.

***NOTICE: A TNumber (student ID) will be required for all Teacher Education Program form submissions. You will be assigned a TNumber after you have applied to the university.

Potential 2+2 candidates should expect the majority of communication to be done by email. Please be sure to provide a valid email address that you check regularly on your 2+2 Intent to Participate. Also, please be sure to check your “junk” folder from time to time to ensure you are not missing any important information. If you notice some emails going to your “junk mail”, please be sure to add that individual to your safe sender list. Failure to provide a working email address and failure to check your email regularly may result in missing important information and updates.
Candidates interested in entering the 2+2 Program will be required to come to the TTU main campus on two occasions during the summer before they begin the program. The first visit will be for the 2+2 Requirement Completion Fair. This event is typically held early to mid-May. The second visit will be for candidates who are fully accepted to the 2+2 Program. This visit will be for the 2+2 Orientation and typically takes place in August.

There will be other instances candidates are required to come to the TTU Main Campus throughout the last two years of their program for Residency Seminars and/or edTPA Seminars.

Tennessee Tech gives $8 million through more than 600 departmental scholarships a year, based on a variety of criteria. Students must be admitted and apply by the December 1st deadline to ensure consideration. Supplemental documents for scholarships must be received by January 15th. 

Admitted students who are transferring from a Tennessee community college who have completed a significant amount of coursework will be considered for the Tech Transfer Pride scholarship. This scholarship may be renewed for up to two additional years.
