CREATE YOUR FUTURE!
The Art Department at Tennessee Tech University offers superior Bachelor of Fine Arts degree studies in art education, design, and fine craft. The B.F.A. degree is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and provides eight degree concentrations.
A unique facet of Tennessee Tech's Art Department is the Appalachian Center for Craft, a satellite campus located in Smithville, Tennessee, dedicated to promoting excellence in American craft by teaching both tradition and innovation in professional studio craft, and fostering access to the highest quality craft education, craft artists, craft works and events in a community arts context.
Our outstanding faculty offer specialized programs in art education, design (digital media), painting, clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood. Exhibitions, workshops, art programming/lectures, and outreach events take place year-round on the main campus in Cookeville and the Center for Craft.
The mission of our department is to prepare students for careers in visual art studios and art education. Students develop creative potential, learn skills and design processes, acquire cultural knowledge and to develop critical faculties through visual art experiences. The department also seeks to instill an appreciation of visual arts in all TTU students and to broaden the cultural perspective of the community, state, and region.
