Welcome to the home of Music at Tennessee Tech!
The faculty, staff and students of the music programs, extend to you a cordial invitation to see and hear the finest of the arts in a quality and quantity that is unsurpassed in Tennessee. Music performances can be heard in the Bryan Fine Arts Building amost every night!
The mission of the Department of Music at Tennessee Tech University is to provide the highest level of artistic education for musicians from the state, the nation, and other countries, so they may reach their full potential as performers, teachers, and citizens.
An exceptional faculty of artist-teachers provides instruction on all band and orchestral instruments, piano, voice, organ, and guitar, and offers classroom instruction in music education, music theory and composition, music history, and conducting. Faculty members provide leadership to professional music organizations in Tennessee and are frequent clinicians, adjudicators, and guest conductors nationally and internationally.
Options for Students
The Department offers the Bachelor of Music degree with several options to fit the needs and interests of music students. Students seeking careers teaching music in the public schools select either the Instrumental Licensure or Vocal/General Licensure option depending upon their performance medium. For students who seek music careers outside of public school teaching, options in Composition, Jazz, Instrumental, Piano, Vocal Performance, and Music Business are also offered within the Bachelor of Music degree.
