Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Below is a list of frequently asked questions regarding undergraduate graduation? If you don't find the answer here, contact us.

Graduation Application Basics

The application is available in Eagle Online. The steps for submitting an application are available here.

Plan ahead and have conversations as early as possible with your advisor. Use your DegreeWorks audit to review your remaining graduation requirements and plan out your remaining requirements with your advisor to plan when you can finish.

Talk to you advisor. If you are planning on graduating within the year after returning from co-op, you need to apply for graduation before leaving. Otherwise you will be responsible for submitting the graduation application while away from campus.

By default, the online graduation application process uses the term that you entered the major as your catalog year. Please review your DegreeWorks audit BEFORE applying to confirm it is correct. If your catalog year does need to be changed, please do so BEFORE applying by submitting a change of major form to the Office of the Registrar.

If you get this error message, it can mean one of three things: 1) you do not have the required minimum of 80 earned credit hours to apply; 2) you are applying to graduate from a non-degree program and need to change your major (e.g. Basic Business, Pre-Medicine, etc.) or 3) you already have an online graduation application on file.

Log into your Eagle Online and review your DegreeWorks audit. If you have submitted an online graduation application, it will be visible at the top of your degree evaluation in the student information section under your overall GPA.

Summer graduates are included in the Fall commencement ceremonies with the December graduates. However your diploma will be mailed out in August at the completion of the Summer term and not in December. If you would like special consideration to participate in the Spring commencement before completing classes in the summer, please fill out the online “ Request to Update Undergraduate Application for Graduation” form. The Undergraduate Graduation office will email you when a decision has been reached regarding your request. The deadline to submit the request to participate is March 30.

Complete the paper form “ Late Application for Graduation” and submit the signed form to the Undergraduate Graduation Office in Jere Whitson room 315. All late applications will only be processed after the on-time applications are completed.

Undergraduate Graduation Degree Analysis

A degree analysis lists all remaining requirements (e.g., General Education classes, degree coursework, overall GPA, major GPA, etc.) needed for completion of your academic program. It will be uploaded to your Eagle Online after processing and you as well as your advisor will be notified that it is ready via email.

All degree analysis are completed in the order in which the application were received, so the later you applied means the longer it will take for your analysis to be processed. You will receive an email notifying you that it has been processed and uploaded into Eagle Online.

Talk with your advisor and review your DegreeWorks audit. Make sure that all transfer credits you have earned has been applied to your transcript and that any course substitutions that you need have been filed by your advisor. If you still see requirements you do not understand, make sure that you and your advisor are looking at the correct catalog year for your major and have not overlooked any requirements.

Changes To My Application

Please review your Degree Work audit after your major change and submit a new application for graduation. Submit graduation app form to the Academic Services Office in Jere Whitson room 315 and include any forms (substitutions, emphasis area) needed in order to process your application.
