Induction into the Profession Ceremony
Order of the Engineer, Pledge of the Computing Professional and Order of Engineering Technologist Induction into the Professions Ceremony will be held Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in Derryberry Auditorium. Participants need to arrive by 2:45 p.m.
Registration for the induction ceremony is in Clement Hall, 201 and will close noon, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019.
We encourage participants to dress the same as for the graduation ceremony (but without cap and gown).
The ceremony is public. Guests are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony which will last approximately 45 minutes.
Order of the Engineer
As an engineering graduate of Tennessee Tech, you are invited to accept the "Obligation
of an Engineer" in an induction ceremony to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3,
2019 in the Derryberry Hall Auditorium. This is not an additional organization to
which one belongs but is a personal obligation formally accepted by reading and signing
the "Obligation". The stainless steel ring worn on the small finger of the working
hand (left or right) is the visible symbol of the professional qualifications and
obligations of the wearer. There will be no chapter meetings, and no dues are collected.
The initial fee of $15.00 covers the cost of the ring, the certificate, and the national
fee. Please bring the exact amount or pay by check. There will be no refunds, although
initiates who miss a ceremony for unavoidable reasons may participate in the next
scheduled ceremony. If you wish to accept this invitation, please come by Clement
Hall, Room 201, no later than noon, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 to select your ring size, specify how you wish your name to appear on the certificate,
and pay the fee. We look forward to your accepting this obligation as a supporter
of this movement which has spread throughout the United States.
Pledge of the Computing Professional
As a computer science graduate of Tennessee Tech, you are invited to accept the “Pledge of the Computing Professional” that will be during the induction ceremony above 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Derryberry Hall Auditorium. There will be no chapter meetings, and no dues are collected. As a member, you may purchase your Computing Professional Badge. The initial fee of $10 covers the cost of the pin and certificate. Please bring the exact amount or pay by check. There will be no refunds, although initiates who miss a ceremony for unavoidable reasons may participate in the next scheduled ceremony. If you wish to accept this invitation, please come by Clement Hall, Room 201, no later than noon, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 to purchase your Computing Professional Badge.

As a manufacturing and engineering technology graduate of Tennessee Tech, you are invited to accept the “Obligation of the Engineering Technologist” that will be during the induction ceremony above – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Derryberry Hall Auditorium. There will be no chapter meetings, and no dues are collected. As a member, you may purchase your Engineering Technology Pin. The initial fee of $10 covers the cost of the pin and certificate. Please bring the exact amount or pay by check. There will be no refunds, although initiates who miss a ceremony for unavoidable reasons may participate in the next scheduled ceremony. If you wish to accept this invitation, please come by Clement Hall, Room 201, no later than noon, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 to purchase your Engineering Technology Pin.
