FIRST LEGO League
The FIRST LEGO League (also known by the acronym FLL) is an international competition for elementary and middle school students (ages 9—14 in the USA and Canada, 9—16 elsewhere). It is arranged by the FIRST organization. Each year the contest focuses on a different real-world topic related to the sciences. Each challenge within the competition then revolves around that theme. The robotics part of the competition revolves around designing and programming LEGO robots to complete tasks. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional tournaments to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots.

Volunteers NEEDED 2018
FRIDAY (Feb 9, 2018)
Set Up Crew (need 12) – 1:30 p.m. to done: Cover floors, set up pit tables and chairs; connect power strips; assemble practice tables in the pit, assemble competition tables on the main gym floor, and assemble judging tables in the studio.
SATURDAY (Feb 10, 2018)
NOTE: On Saturday many assignments are divided into 2 shifts, if you wish to work the same job for both shifts, please indicate that on your Volunteer Application form.
Information Table (need 2—4) – Must be available 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and/or noon to 5 p.m.: Distribute tournament programs and other printed materials and operate lost and found.
Referee Assistants (need 8 and 2 alternates)- Must be available 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.: Must study competition rules and attend a 30-minute training session prior to tournament. You will be assigned to a table for all of the competition rounds. Assist the referee in scoring each round and resetting the table between rounds. Preference will be given to returning volunteers.
Registration (need 2) – Must be available 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.: Assist the Registrar with Team registration.
Volunteer Registration (need 1) – Must be available 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.: Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with Volunteer registration.
Judging Assistants (need 4 — 5) - Must be available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Help the judges complete paperwork and bring results to tournament headquarters.
Score Runner (need 1 or 2) - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and/or noon to 5 p.m.: Collect score sheets from referees after each match and carry them to the scorekeeper assistant.
Practice Table (need 4 each time slot) - 7 a.m. to noon and/or 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Must be assertive and able to control crowds. Control the use of practice tables in the pit area so that all teams have equal opportunity to practice during the tournament.
Pit Runners (need 4 each time slot) - 7 a.m. to noon and/or 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Notify and escort teams from the pit area to the competition tables.
Video Operator (need 2) – Must be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Operate the video equipment for filming the competition rounds.
Floater (need 2—4) – 8 a.m. to noon and/or 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Be available on-site to performs tasks as needed.
Take Down and Moving Crew (need 4—6) – 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 .pm.until done (need 10—12): These people take down pit tables and chairs; collect power strips; and take down challenge tables.
