Faculty and staff at the College of Engineering at Tennessee Tech University are always motivated at this time of year. The start of fall semester marks renewed energy as students return to campus. This semester there is added anticipation with the announcement of a new dean. Darrell E.P. Hoy, was recently named interim dean for the College of Engineering, replacing Joseph J. Rencis who had served since 2011.

For Tennessee Tech student Nathan Daniel and others in Tech’s Students for the Exploration and Development of Space chapter, an interest in what’s happening in space is innate.

On Monday, Aug. 21, when a total solar eclipse crosses over a stretch of North America, leaving Tennessee Tech right in the path of totality, they will join thousands of others with their eyes to the sky.
