    Purple Career Readiness Workshop on Aug. 26: Employer Panel – What do Employers Look for ?

    Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Aug. 26, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for the first Purple Career Readiness Workshop of the semester! A panel of employers from Enterprise, Eastman Chemical, Aphena Pharma and Flex-Tek will share their tips and advice on how to impress a potential company after graduating college.

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

    To attend virtually, access the TEAMS link in Handshake Events. To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation, and make sure that your camera is turned on during your attendance.

    Employer Spotlight Recruiting Event featuring Tennessee Highway Patrol August 27

    Are you interested in a career in law enforcement?  Did you miss the opportunity to visit with Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) recruiters earlier this week?  Don’t worry – they will be back on Friday!  The THP is currently accepting applications for the next cadet class, which starts in January 2022. If you are looking for a career that affords you opportunities to achieve your goals, then the THP is where you belong! The THP is a multi-faceted, full- service, statewide law enforcement agency that has numerous divisions.

    If you are interested in a career as a Tennessee state trooper you must apply online. Applications are being accepted now through Tuesday, August 31. Individuals interested in applying must be at least 21-years-old at the time of application, a U.S. citizen, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

    Welcome Back Part-Time Job Fair on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Centennial Plaza

    Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Centennial Plaza, located between the Roaden University Center and Derryberry Hall, for the Welcome Back Part-Time Job Fair. Be prepared to speak with local employers seeking Tech students for part-time opportunities! All majors are invited to participate to learn more about career opportunities with over 20 employers!

    In the event of inclement weather, this event will be moved to the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor).

    All participants will be required to follow Campus Return to Tech Guidelines regarding social distancing and face coverings.

    Lab Safety Training

    The Environmental Health & Safety Lab Training Portal no longer resides on their website. Instead, the training is now accessed through Tech Express QuickLinks and the Orange Hard Hat Safety icon. Most students should be able to log into the Portal, however if you are having issues, then please contact Liz Humphrey at ehumphrey@tntech.edu.

    Use the step-by-step instructions linked here to navigate the portal and find the courses to take. Once each course is completed, download and save the certificate in pdf form. These certificates can be submitted in iLearn assignments when asked. Stay tuned for a College of Engineering Master Course on Lab and Shop Safety to be released soon!


    Ambassadors for Designing and Delivering Virtual Interactive Instruction in STEM Education

    AMBASSADORS NEEDED!

    Attention all Education (Undergraduate and Graduate) and STEM (Undergraduate) majors!

    For this program, you will develop and record lesson plans for Tennessee teachers to use in their classrooms. You will also answer K–12 students’ questions in real-time when you host these recorded classes virtually through a Google Meets or Zoom platform. You will be paid $12/hour (except during the two-day Tennessee STEM Innovation Network summit), attend meetings, and gain valuable experience while building relationships that could last a lifetime when you work with us in the ADVISE program. We hope you will consider filling out the application and become an Ambassador!

    $12/HOUR & PAID EXPENSES TO THE TSIN SUMMIT
