    Purple Career Readiness Workshop

    Becoming Career Ready! Sept. 30 @ 11a.m.

    Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Sept. 30, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop. A staff member from the Center for Career Development will guide you through the tips and tricks of how to truly became career ready!

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

    To attend virtually, access the TEAMS link in Handshake Events. To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation, and make sure that your camera is turned on during your attendance.

    Faculty Speaking Event with Pingen Chen Hosted by MEGSO Sept. 28 @12:30 p.m.

    Pingen Chen, Assistant Professor the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech as a tenure-track assistant professor and founded the Automotive Powertrain and Emissions Control Laboratory (APECL) in August 2016. Previously, he was a controls and diagnostics senior engineer at the Cummins Technical Center for two years. He received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University in 2010, and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2014. Dr. Chen is the author or co-author of more than 54 peer-reviewed publications including 18 journal articles, 35 conference papers, and 1 patent. Dr. Chen’s research activities have been supported by U.S. Department of Energy, Tennessee Tech University, Cummins Inc., Denso, and Nissan. His research interests include the modeling, estimation, on-board diagnostics, control, and optimization of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, automated and connected vehicles, energy-efficient mobility systems; internal combustion engine, aftertreatment systems, and alternative/renewable fuels.

    In this presentation, Chen will share his past and current experiences as a Master and Ph.D. student in graduate schools, and as researchers at Cummins Inc. and Tennessee Tech. He will also share his research and its impacts on the next-generation automotive transportation system and climate changes.

    Join us Wednesday, Sep. 29, at 5 p.m. in the iMakerspace to learn all about Eagle Works and our different workshops and events throughout the year! Hear how you can win money and gain valuable skills that will set you apart! Everyone who attends gets a FREE T-SHIRT!

    The iMakerspace is on the third floor of Volpe Library. Use the north staircase (past the MyTECH helpdesk) to access. If you need an accessible entrance, please email Andrea at before 4:30 p.m. that day to arrange.

    Exploring CyberSecurity

    Oct. 2 @9 a.m.

    CEROC is organizing a Cyber Discovery Day on Saturday, October 2nd (9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) primarily for freshman/sophomores/transfer students in the department/college/university.

    No prior knowledge or experience in cyber is needed.
