Engineering A Future: One Day Edition is a one-day engineering and computing workshop for 5th and 6th grade young women interested in STEM. Students will participate in hands on STEM activities focused on exploring the fields of engineering and computing. Activities will be led by leading Tennessee Tech University faculty and students. During this workshop we hope to engage young women in STEM and show how women are changing the future of engineering.

Engineering a Future - Engineering & Computing Workshop is presented in partnership with the College of Education.

  • Our Mission

    To support young women interested in engineering through engaging, hands-on experiments, fellowship with other young women their age, mentorship from current female engineering students and quality time with current women in engineering.

  • What to Expect

    Parents/guardians will drop off students the morning of at Tennessee Tech University, and attend the opening welcome sessions with their student. Once students break out into their small groups, parents/guardians are free to leave, returning to pick up their student and attend closing sessions at the end of day (schedules and locations will be emailed to parents/guardians prior to the event).  Students will spend the day in randomly assigned small groups rotating through hands on engineering and computing sessions. Each small group will have at least one mentor supervising their group at all times. Lunch and water through out the day will be provided.

  • Cost & Application Information

    Cost: $30 per student, covers the cost of activities, lunch, and a commemorative t-shirt.

    Applications are open January 1st

    • The workshop is limited to 80 students, spots will be given on a first come first serve basis. Applications will close once we have reached capacity. There will be no on-site registration.
    • The $30 attendance fee, and participant paperwork will be due on March 1st.
