About

The Arias Chavez research laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tennessee Tech University is seeking well-qualified graduate students to pursue funded research in the application of novel membrane technologies to improving the sustainability of water, energy, and food production. We pursue meaningful solutions to real-world problems through work at two different scales: (1) bench- or pilot-scale studies on system performance and design, and (2) new polymeric membrane fabrication techniques to manipulate membrane structure and material properties at the micro- and nano-scale. Ideal candidates for this position have a strong foundation in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering, materials science or another engineering, science, or mathematics discipline; are self-motivated, creative, and independent; work well in teams; are hard-working, responsible, and safety-oriented; and have strong writing skills and/or a desire to develop them.
