3D Printed Joints and Connectors for Assemblies

Nick Russell and Jacob Floyd: Tennessee Technological University

Nick Russell is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee where he graduated from Chattanooga Christian School in 2013. He is a Junior in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech. Nick has served as Student Regent of the Tennessee Board of Regents, as well as several other leadership and professional experiences of note. In the summer of 2016 he participated in the Advanced Manufacturing and Techno-Entrepreneurship REU at Tennessee Tech. During this program he researched various joint designs for connecting 3D printed assemblies and aided in the design and construction of the 3D printed Struthiomimus in the iMakerSpace at TTU.

Jacob Floyd is from Winchester, Tennessee and graduated from Franklin County High School in 2013. He is currently a senior in Computer Engineering at Tennessee Tech. In the summer of 2016 he participated in the Advanced Manufacturing and Techno-Entrepreneurship REU at Tennessee Tech. During this program he researched various joint designs for connecting 3D printed assemblies and aided in the design and construction of the 3D printed Struthiomimus in the iMakerSpace at TTU.

Jay Watson: Teacher, Cookeville High School

Bio- Jay Watson teaches web development, coding, and IT at Cookeville High School. He received a B.S degree in Secondary Education from TTU, has over five years of IT experience, and holds a multitude of industry technology certifications. Additionally, Watson was selected as the Best of the Best of Upper Cumberland educators and served on the focus group that selected Tennessee’s new web design standards, as well as the Web Design and Coding Textbook Advisory Panel.

Jesse Roitenberg has been the National Education Manager for Stratasys for the past 7 years. He has a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and is a former math and science teacher. He has been involved in 3D Printing, Additive Manufacturing and Direct Digital Manufacturing for the past 10 years.

TJ McCue runs Refine Digital, a marketing firm. He does research and reporting on makers, small urban manufacturers, and tech for Forbes and others. TJ likes to help small and midsize business owners and execs figure out how to use various tools to grow their businesses. In the past, he has put pen to paper for the Wall Street Journal, Make, Sports Afield, the Pittsburgh Business Times and many others.
