We are committed to recruitment, retention and diversity of our student population, and to actively engage in creating initiatives that support these activities. Current programs providing academic preparation and exposure to career possibilities in engineering to pre-college students offered at Tech are:
- Engineering A Future
- FIRST Lego League
- Governor’s School for Emerging Technologies
- Makers on the Move
- Millard Oakley STEM Center
We believe providing a strong support structure to Tech engineering students is vital to their academic success and future career path. Along with our Engineering Career Awareness Program (ECAP) and Tennessee Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (TLSAMP) program, our engineering specific student chapters provide large part of this support.
Here are a few of the engineering specific student chapters at Tech.
- Engineers Without Borders
- National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
- Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
- Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
- Theta Tau
- Water Professionals
