Nursing, TN Tech University
Fall 2016 UIFellow
Shelby was first introduced to the University Innovation Fellows and innovation & entrepreneurship (I&E) through Spring 2016 UIFellow, Jacqueline Schulz, another nursing student at TN Tech. Through this brief encounter, Shelby was intrigued by the interdisciplinary aspect of I&E and the opportunity to improve patient care through I&E within nursing.
She believes the importance of integrating innovation and entrepreneurship into higher education stems from understanding that innovation and entrepreneurship are the keys to enhancing products and finding better solutions. We can all be change agents no matter the major, but we must begin with I&E.
Shelby recognizes the I&E resources available on the TN Tech campus and in the Cookeville community. She hopes to make these resources known to students, especially those within the nursing program, and to educate those unaware of the benefits of interdisciplinary interactions within innovation and entrepreneurship.
