Participants in non-credit courses and programs are not required to submit an application for admission to Tennessee Tech University. Pre-registration is required prior to attending classes and early registration is strongly advised. Registration is complete and class placement is secure only when payment is received. Some non-credit classes have limited enrollment and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Occasionally, sufficient enrollments may not be met and a course must be cancelled. When a cancellation occurs, you will be notified and a full refund of course fees will be given. Extended Programs and Regional Development reserves the right to cancel, postpone, combine classes, or substitute qualified instructors when necessary. Every effort is made to notify students by phone when a course is cancelled. Be sure to include a day time phone number where a message may be left.
We sometimes receive registration requests after the registration deadline has passed, and in the case of low enrollment, after the decision to cancel has been made. By registering before the deadline, you help to avoid unnecessary cancellations and allow more students the opportunity to enroll. In other words, don’t delay registration!

A 100% refund will be granted for withdrawal from courses that meet on a weekly basis prior to the first class meeting if the university has cancelled a course or when a student’s death occurs during the term the course is offered. An 85% refund will be granted after the first class meeting and prior to the second class meeting. No refunds will be issued after the second class. For courses that meet for one or two classes, withdrawal must be received prior to the first class to be eligible for 100% refund. No refunds will be given after the course begins. Failure to attend class does not constitute a withdrawal from the course. To ensure your refund please notify us immediately. Refund policies may vary for non-credit online programs.
Students enrolled in non-credit courses that meet on campus will receive a parking permit from the instructor at the first class meeting. The parking permit must be displayed inside the driver’s side windshield and will be active for the term of the course. Non-credit students should park in designated student parking lots and must adhere to TTU Parking and Traffic Regulations. Tennessee Technological University offices will remain open during periods of inclement weather even though classes may be cancelled.
If classes are not cancelled despite inclement weather, students are responsible for any academic work they miss as a result of inclement weather. It is the individual student’s responsibility to take the initiative in making up any missed work, and it is the faculty member’s responsibility to provide students a reasonable opportunity to make up missed work.
Check our web site at http://ttuemergency.blogspot.com/ for current information about cancellations or other information regarding inclement weather.
Continuing Education Units
Tennessee Tech University awards Continuing Education Units for satisfactory completion of many non-credit activities and courses. One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours of participation in a qualifying course or program. Programs where CEUs are awarded must meet specific criteria prior to the event. Presenters should consult the CEU Request Form and Checklist for more details.
Individuals requesting CEUs must complete a non-credit registration form. The cost of awarding CEUs is $15 per person, per course. A record of CEUs earned by students is kept by Extended Programs and Regional Development, Non-Credit Programs and may be obtained either by verbal or written request.
