Algood Family Collection
Henry Brooks Algood (1860-1934), a druggist who owned Algood Pharmacy in Cookeville, was the son of Joel Algood, for whom the town of Algood was named. His wife, Frances "Fannie" Crutcher Algood (1862-1936) traveled across the United States purchasing ladies' hats and accessories to sell to the women of Putnam County. This collection contains ledgers, financial records, receipts, and other materials that belonged to Henry and Fannie.

Alpha Lambda Delta Records
Alpha Lambda Delta, the National Academic Honor Society for Freshmen, founded its Tennessee Technological University chapter November 15, 1973. Comprised of textual records, the collection contains materials from various officer notebooks, past issues of the newsletter, The Flame, and a scrapbook made by members. Records date from 1973 to 2015, with the bulk of the materials dating from 1996-1998.

Arthur Story Bushing Papers
Arthur Story Bushing (March 24, 1922 – October 29, 2008) spent much of his childhood in Jamestown, Tennessee, was a Maryville College alumnus, and a World War II Army veteran. He returned from the service to the employ of his alma mater as an Assistant Professor, eventually serving as chair of the English Department and taking the role of Dean of Men. Retiring in 1996, he remained active in the life of the college and pursued research interests. Chief among those interests was the history surrounding his father, Arthur Samuel Bushing, who had served as Sergeant Alvin C. York’s personal secretary upon York’s return from Europe after World War I. This collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, and photos passed down to him from his father, as well as the documentation of his own research and presentations of its findings in articles and speeches.

Lottie Farr Collection
Lottie Farr (1907-1994) was an English professor at Tennessee Tech University and worked with the College of Education. She was involved with the Putnam County Library and was treasurer for the Board of Trustees. Through the Department of English, she edited and copyrighted a collection of poetry by Clara Cox Epperson. The materials primarily date from 1970 to 1986, with the bulk of materials dating from 1970 to 1983. The materials consist of Putnam County Library records, book layouts and information, Clara Cox Epperson’s writings, negatives of the book, correspondences, and obituaries.

Lowe Family Papers
Robert W. Lowe and his wife, Mary Alice Whitson Lowe, were residents of Cookeville. Robert W. Lowe ran for U.S. Senator in 1938 as Executive Committeeman. He was a member of the Upper Cumberland Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, and his wife was a member of the Old Walton Road Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). This collection contains family letters, including some from World War I, D. A. R. correspondence, bulletins, and 1938 campaign advertisements, dating from 1873 to 1946.

Marie White Papers
Marie White (1890 – 1984) served as the State Chairman of the Home Economics Department at Tennessee Tech University from 1949 until 1961. The collection includes her degrees, commemorative plaques, and a letter book from the Home Economics staff, presented to White when she retired.

Mastersingers Inc. Records
The Mastersingers was a choral group that was formed in 1977 by Mr. and Mrs. David Urness and Alice Derryberry in Cookeville, Tennessee. David Urness served as the Mastersingers first choral director. Although based at Tennessee Technological University, members are not required to be students. Many members come from Cookeville and surrounding areas. The records date from 1978 to 2014 and include ephemera, memorabilia, and the official records of the Mastersingers such as information on membership and singers, board member meetings, constitutions, budgets, and financial statements.

Mortar Board Honor Society Records
The Mortar Board Honor Society started at Tennessee Tech University in 1968, being officially recognized as the Gold Circle chapter on April 12, 1975. As a National College Senior Honor Society, they honor those who exemplify scholarship, leadership, and service. This collection contains photographs and textual records relating to activities and volunteer work of the chapter throughout Putnam County. The records date from 1968 to 2008.

T.J. Farr Papers
T.J. Farr (1902-1962) was a history professor at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute and a chairperson of the English and Education Departments. He was also involved with the Tennessee Folklore Society and gathered folklore from across the Upper Cumberland region, along with East Tennessee Folklore. The materials date from 1926 to 1961, with the bulk of materials dating from 1935. The materials consist of Tennessee Folklore Society Bulletins, correspondences, and membership materials; along with different folklore and superstitions he collected, and some personal attributes.

Tech Training School Records
The Tech Training School, also known as the Tech Campus School, was a kindergarten through 6th grade elementary school on Tech campus from 1948 to 1976 that functioned in agreement with the Putnam County School Board. The records date from 1949 to 1976, with the bulk of the records dating from 1965 to 1973, and include official records such as financial records and central files, along with photographs.

Vivian Barnes attended Tennessee Tech and graduated in 1949 with a degree in accounting. She married H.S. Barnes, who attended Tech from 1936 to 1939. The materials include clippings from the Oracle, Tech’s student newspaper, and programs from different events, such as operas, plays, choral events, and symphony performances from 1935 to 1980, with most of the material dating from 1938 to 1966.
