Angelo & Jennette Volpe Library
Library's Response to COVID-19
The library has implemented the following changes in response to COVID-19 and the university's move to online and alternate delivery for classes.
Physical Space: The library has limited hours and limited access. The third/quiet study floor is closed except for access to the iCUBE and iMakerSpace. Only half of the second/main floor is open with access to computers for Tennessee Tech employees and students only. All study rooms are closed. Au Bon Pain and their seating area are closed.
Collection: There is no access to or borrowing of any physical items (third floor, course reserves, physical InterLibrary Loan, popular collection, etc.) All electronic materials are available 24/7 via EagleSearch, databases, and eJournals. There is also a National Emergency Library available from the Internet Archive.
Instruction: There are online videos on how to use the library, giving effective presentations, personal financial literacy, poster design, and plagiarism/copyright. There is no longer in-class instruction options. If faculty would like to incorporate a library assignment into their coursework or have a librarian participate in their online class, please email Sharon Holderman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Notary: Notary services are available for Tech students and employees. Please contact Charlene McClain at email@example.com or 931-372-6109.
Research Poster Design: In-person poster workshops for Spring 2020 are cancelled. The workshop content is available in an online video.
Testing: Testing in the TLC is closed until further notice.
Thesis/Dissertation Help: Our March 25, 2020, workshop has been cancelled due to extended spring break and the coronavirus. We are no longer scheduling appointments through TechConnect. Students who need thesis and dissertation help should email Sharon Holderman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tutoring: Beginning March 30, 2020, the university-wide tutoring program through the library will be available online via Zoom for the rest of spring semester. Students will continue to schedule appointments through TechConnect. Some specialized tutoring programs (villages, departments, etc.) will also be available for appointments in TechConnect; contact departments with questions about their tutoring programs if they are not in TechConnect.
