The Interventionist (K-8) concentration in Special Education studies the best ways
to educate and improve the lifestyles of children with a range of challenges (learning,
cognitive, behavioral, emotional, physical) and unique gifts. Our program offers students
a curriculum designed to provide a strong foundation of teaching skills, access to
the latest in educational strategies, and instructional theory. Students pursuing
this degree may choose to earn teacher licensure for grades K-8 or grades 6-12, with
a specific content focus of English, math, biology, or social studies. Students in
licensure programs also engage in extensive clinical experiences in public schools
for hands-on training, professional collaboration, and classroom management. Nationally
accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
