International Friends banquet set for March 16

For more than 40 years, the International Friends Banquet has welcomed students from all over the world. All Tennessee Tech international students and the student body are invited to attend the annual International Friends banquet, set for Saturday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m. in the Roaden University Center’s Multipurpose Room. There will be live music, crafts, fun, dancing, door prizes and free food. Host families will also be in attendance.

For more than 40 years, the International Friends Banquet has welcomed students from all over the world.

“As the new chair of International Friends, my goal is to broaden the membership within the Cookeville community,” said Pamela Ethridge, administrative assistant with Tech’s Study Abroad. “This semester, we have 430-plus international students representing 63 countries. We have 17 countries that have only one student represented. I see International Friends as an opportunity to ‘Think globally…act locally.’”

International Friends is a community organization that links international students at Tech to American families or individuals so that students can participate in social activities to learn more about U.S. culture and that the families and individuals can learn more about international cultures.
