The ensemble specializes in the various forms of music and dance that developed under the influence of Africans in Latin America. The performers are Latin American and American citizens. The group aims to spread awareness of the forms of expression that developed as the cultures of Africa and Latin America mixed as a result of the slave trade.
Formed in 2005, the ensemble specializes in sacred and secular music and dance forms from Brazil, Columbia, Cuba, Haiti, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Sponsored by TTU’s Center Stage, the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts Building, 1150 N. Dixie Ave. It is free and open to the public.
