Published: Thu Sep 23, 2004Growing attendance at the Annual Bacchanal means this year’s fundraiser will feature increased seating, larger tents and more art, wine, food and entertainment.
The Annual Bacchanal, which supports academic scholarships for students in Bachelor of Fine Arts programs at Tennessee Tech University and the Appalachian Center for Craft, has grown in popularity in recent years, prompting organizers to expand preparations for this year’s event to be held on Sunday, Oct. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m.
“We are thrilled that we need to have a larger tent space and provide more tables and seating,” said Jane Morgan Dudney of the Craft Center. “With the growth we saw last fall, it’s obvious the event’s popularity has reached new heights.”
Offering participants a chance to revel in extensive selections of wine and beer, feast on gourmet food, and bid on art and fine craft, the Bacchanal raises money for academic scholarships available to art students seeking degrees in art education, clay, fibers, glass, metals, painting and wood.
The live auction begins at 2:30 p.m., giving guests the opportunity to view the art and fine craft available. The popular and talented John Richards of Nashville will perform throughout the afternoon on acoustic jazz guitar.
Held at Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville, located just off TTU’s campus at 203 E. 9th St., the event also offers free valet parking and a complimentary commemorative wine glass for each attendee.
